Today’s forecast called for an inch or two of snow, but the storm tracked a little farther north than expected: instead of snow, we got sleet, followed by rain.
After sunset, the temperature dipped below freezing and the wet roads began to ice over. Normally, when the roads are that bad we stay home; but Sam had a birthday party to attend. So out we went, onto the ice.
The party was at the YMCA, about three miles from Stately Rice Manor. I drove slowly and very carefully, and managed to keep the car on the road. (News reports suggest others weren’t so lucky.)
