My computer is still in the shop – which phrase was once exclusive to automobiles, but this being the twenty-first century has been pressed into additional service. I was hoping to get it back today; alas, no.
I called the repair shop this afternoon; the friendly fella who answered the phone gave me the bad news: the disk is failing, rapidly enough that it may not be possible to recover very much data from it.
Reformatting the old disk is no longer an option, so he’s going to install a new 1TB disk & put the operating system on it; it should be ready tomorrow morning. And that’s when we find out whether my Time Machine volume is any good.
If it isn’t, I will be very sad.
