Thinking (again) how best to proceed with genealogy, Reunion 9 and the (shiny new) iPad. I need a plan; specifically, I need to decide how to handle these:

  • Custom source templates, so I can record proper source citations.
  • GEDCOM tags for custom source templates, so I can export my data as necessary.
  • Multimedia references. I keep photos in iPhoto, but all my scanned / downloaded document images are (for now) in DropBox. If I include those paths in my Reunion file, then moving files or changing cloud-storage services is much more difficult.
  • Date ranges. Some events happen at a single point in time, but others occupy a span of time. What’s the best way to record start and end dates for an event? As two separate events?
