City Methodist Church, Gary, Indiana

Long ago, I drove up to the Gary Public Library, to look at old copies of the Gary Post-Tribune on microfilm. As I recall, I found a few items of interest, most notably a birth announcement for my mother. It was a profitable trip.

I learned this evening that the Gary Public Library is only two blocks away from the City Methodist Church, where in September of 1960 my parents were married.

I wish I’d known, when I was there. I’d have walked over to take a look at the place.

(These days, the City Methodist Church is a long-abandoned, burned-out ruin, that the city of Gary can’t seem to muster the will or funds even to demolish.)
